NOTABLES

👩🏻‍🌾 Rancho Oso Roble U-Pick Ollaliberries in downtown Pescadero (open Thu-Sun, 10-4). Ollaliberries are a hybrid of many species of blackberries + raspberries (look like large blackberries) and are at their peak through July. The bushes are heavy with ripe fruit and the berries will fall right into your hands with a floral, almost perfume-like flavor. They make delicious ollalieberry pancakes! 🥞

Recommended by a local, it’s a small and humble operation but the berry patch is so abundant that even 3-year-olds can easily pick without thorns being an issue. Sampling is encouraged and the proprietor Cindy sells delicious jams on-site. Plus you can fill out a postcard that she’ll mail you when picking season starts next year.

Day trip suggestion 🚗: Start with a morning beach day to beat the traffic 🏖️ (easy morning parking at Francis Beach), grab lunch in the adorable downtown Pescadero 🍽️, and don't miss The Sunshine—a small but mighty grocery store stocked with thoughtfully curated gourmet goods from both local and international sources 🛒. Grab a coffee at Downtown Local in the shared space ☕, head to the ollaliberries a few minutes away for some post-lunch activity, and check out Blue House Farms on your way home for excellent strawberry picking 🍓 (Sat- Sun 12-5 pm; peak season now through late August). Enjoy!
